Live Arts Week gives space to ‘existential athletics’. It does not put art before the artists, but exposes to forms of sensitivity and ideas, welcomes hybrid and polyglot works, hosts creative singularity, weaving a sort of counter-design of use. This event dedicated to live arts, unique in Italy, hosts a blend of new productions that revolve around the presence, performance and perceptual experience of sounds and visions.
During the last 18 years, Future Film Festival has become the most significant Italian event dedicated to animation and visual effects. Every year, the most important film-directors, art-directors and creative-producers come to Bologna to show their own films’ premiéres, backstages of their successes and exclusive clips from new productions.
AngelicA seeks to represent every kind of musical research that moves in non-conventional circles, and that freely makes use of all the materials supplied by the different musical traditions. AngelicA is also a record label “i dischi di angelica” and, in 2011, found a Centre for Musical Research in the Teatro San Leonardo complex.
Established in 2005, Biografilm Festival - International Celebration of Lives takes place every year in the city of Bologna, Italy, in June. Biografilm Festival is the first international event entirely committed to promote and support biographies and life tales. It offers a rich program of film premières along with wonderful music concerts in the suggestive venue of the Bio Parco.
Gender Bender is an international Festival introducing the Italian public to the new imagery related to gender identities, sexual orientations and body representations stemming from contemporary culture. Gender Bender offers a series of events ranging from film showings, to theatrical productions and dance performances, visual arts exhibitions, installation, round tables and conferences, live concerts and performances by musicians and djs, and clubbing events.
BilBOlbul International Comics Festival is a project curated by Hamelin Cultural Association. It is dedicated to auteur comics and presents the work of established artists and young talent from Italy and abroad. BilBOlbul was created in Bologna in 2001 as a cultural initiative throughout the year with a series of events about comics. This experience and the network it created helped to realize the festival which debuted in 2007.
